25th-30th September 2007

More Blade Runner Final Cut stuff updated as well as usual general news. Still hard at work on other stuff.

24th September 2007

Blade Runner Final Cut Special Edition page updated.

20th September 2007

Many site updates being done right now. Be patient.

  • Up to present with the news.
  • Working on all the rest.
24th April 2005

Site updates in the past week or so are as follows:

Note: I have started updating the collectibles pages, particularly as a couple of stores selling stuff have stopped selling the BR related things or even worse, gone out of business. So I am interested to hear from anyone who has bought any BR stuff from regular sellers to hear any good or bad stories (please specify rough dates). I am currently investigating some negative reports about a couple of sellers.

1st April 2005

BR-in-the-news up-to-date (again). Working-on-the-rest (again). Only this time, I actually have time to work on it. Now I'm in the USA and temporarily settled, I'm getting on with all those site updates that have been waiting, some for a very long time. Apologies and all that. Life getting closer to normal now.

2nd December 2004

BR-in-the-news up-to-date. Working-on-the-rest.

19th September 2004

This week the site has successfully migrated onto a new server at a new web host and in the process been safely established for at least the next 2 years, with more space available, more speed and more facilities available (and at less cost!). As I have been doing much the same with some other sites involving many 100 Mbs of data transfer and reorganisation, I've been a bit busy with that, but can now get back to updating here.

19th August 2004

Finally getting the site back on track now after getting bogged down with life. The BR-in-the-news is current. I'm starting on the e-mails (I will reply to all of them eventually, even the ones many months old now). Part of sifting those out from the spam will involve a few new interesting additions to the site. And why don't I celebrate this fresh start with a new title banner at the top - a wonderful creation by Peter Collins. And to highlight previous banners (dotted around the site), I've started a special page for them.

30th May 2004

Apologies for the lack of recent updates of any kind to the site for some weeks. I have been preoccupied with real life issues.

20th March 2004

Today I have for you some actual Blade Runner that you probably haven't seen before. Blade Runner clips from a Bravo TV show, some of which are not from any of the released versions of the film! Hi-Def version up first - smaller versions to come possibly next week.

18th March 2004

In the last several weeks, I have been mostly...

  • Reorganising all the media and pictures and splitting up the Downloads section to smaller chunks (thanks to continuing to get lots of lovely fan contributions!) If there are any link errors or silly mistakes, do let me know.
  • Talking of fan contributions, we have a new wallpaper image from Alex Greig.
  • Adding more "You're an obsessive BR fan if..."
6th February 2004

Major piece of work added today - the complete transcription of the Blade Runner film, illustrated with many superb images extracted from the DVD and cleaned. Michael D. Radencich has done an excellent job on this!

1st February 2004

More exciting stuff being added:

  • More language updates - this time to the diminutive Germans chat.
  • More "You're an obsessive BR fan if..."
30th January 2004

Added today:

25th January 2004

I've been battling the demons of mind, body and everyday life, but finally have fended them off long enough to update the site. Of course starting with the latest BR mentions in the news, but now finally catching up with all those excellent submissions to the site:

  • One of the excellent aspects of BR fandom is the BR excerpts set to non-BR music. Here we have a video set to the classic "What a Wonderful World" song.
  • Working on more additions! So much to do...
30th October 2003

And some more:

29th October 2003

This week:

  • The alternative to the viewpoint published last week on the D-a-R / D-a-H debate. Detonator argues the case for why Deckard should be a Replicant.
22nd October 2003

Wow! Another week has disappeared already since the last update. Well, I'm still catching up, so here are some more wonderful things for you to peruse:

  • A fresh analysis of the age-old D-a-R / D-a-H debate. Martin Connolly is firmly of the opinion that Deckard is Not a Replicant!
  • BR:SE page. Nothing actually new, but everything I can say nonetheless.
15th October 2003

There are times when life gets in the way of even one's primary hobbies. But I'm back on the case now, so here are the first of lots of updates:

11th September 2003

Finally finding the time after the post-summer holidays catchup to update BRmovie. Brought the news up to date today.

6th August 2003

The Blade Runner Fun section is improved as I found those three cartoons and created a separate page for them. There are also the first new "Signs that you're an obsessive BR fan..." added.

16th July 2003

It is a whole new section! Blade Runner Fun finally gets its place on the site. It will start off slow, but of course your contributions and suggestions are welcomed to enlarge it. Particularly the "Signs that you're an obsessive BR fan..." humour. Even if you don't feel inclined to write a short story or even a page for the Blade Runner Interactive Story (which has now expanded to Off-World), I'm sure you can come up with a one-liner for the fun page!

11th June 2003

This week we have for you:

  • A Futurama - Blade Runner crossover Wallpaper created by WEKurtz (created out of frustration about Futurama being canned)
  • The Cast and Crew Profiles revamp has got under way with an enhanced Vangelis profile and a new Roland Kibbee profile - both by Tyge.
  • Finally, the Blade Runner Interactive Story is back on track with a new page by Rachael - taking part of the story in a whole new direction. Lets get the momentum moving on the BRIS! Add a page now! Everyone welcome.

And also don't forget, if you can help out in any way with the BR FAQ translation, I'd love to hear from you.

3rd June 2003

More updates! Check out the most excellent fan-fiction by Brian Kay, Black and White - a sequel to his first BR fanfic published here, Shades of Gray.

Then, check the news above for my own contributions - firstly, scans of Daryl Hannah recreating her Pris image in Entertainment Weekly. Then a quick review of the Directors series featuring Ridley Scott. (Not brand new, but I only just got to see it this week.)

22nd May 2003

Is it possible? Can it be? After a few months where, apart from news and a minor updates, there is actually something bigger happening here? Well yes. I've had way too much pressure on my time this year, but am hopefully moving back into a phase where I can allocate more time to Blade Runner. So, what is happening here this week?

Firstly, catching up with the updates for all the links and corrections people have kindly sent in. This includes a complete check through the Analysis and Links sections. Where possible Analysis essays that have disappeared from the Web have been republished here.

Secondly, the Blade Runner Interactive Story stalled because I was trying to do something clever with it, but given lack of time, it was silly for me to try right now. I've abandoned that project for now and encourage everyone to take a fresh look and perhaps even add something of your own. The 'clever' thing I was trying will just have to wait. (Check back at Christmas...)

Thirdly, some time ago, I decided that the related music section of the FAQ was continuing to expand out of proportion to the main FAQ and it was logical for it to be separated and managed independently. Patrick Meaney has taken on responsibility as editor of the BR Related Music FAQ and the first incarnation of this has now been incorporated into BRmovie.

At this point I am finally, officially launching the "Translate the Blade Runner FAQ into other languages" project. I already have a couple of volunteers, but now request lots more. You can volunteer to do as little or as much as you like (every single page translated is one step closer to a whole FAQ translation). I am asking for volunteers for *any* language. You may also volunteer to do just a final proofread if you like. The translation is for the document itself - it is an easy matter for me to create the alternate web pages from that. I will only have problems with languages that can only be written with alternate character sets.

And last but not least, we have some new contributions and big updates: The start of a new story by PJ Sheehy, An updated version of the Roy Batty Analysis by RoyBoy, new additions to the Blasters page and Spinners page.

23rd February 2003

Still only small updates at present. It occurred to me that when I started the BR:SE news page over a year ago, I only put news report dates as day and month. Alas, it has become necessary to add the year as well, as time keeps moving on and the BR:SE DVD is nowhere on the horizon.

I have been slow with updates to this site including the Blade Runner Interactive Story. Today, I've made an attempt to catch up. Can't promise that there will be any other huge updates in the near future, but there are some simmering away slowly which will eventually appear.

31st January 2003

Regulars should notice the new banner on the front page, created by WEKurtz. As I now have three contributed banners (see Wombie's one on the Webrings Page), I will start the banner rotation I suggested sometime in the distant past, so that all banners are displayed somewhere on site, but rotate every now and then. Everyone is welcome to contribute a banner. Credits have been added to the main credits box at the bottom of the front page.

Updated the BR:SE News Page to confirm there is no new news.

I have a couple of other things to put up - apologies for being a bit slow, as I am so terribly busy with other sites at the moment, but they will get there eventually - as ever, I promise there will always be something new every month on this site.

14th January 2003

What's new? Well gnomus has done one of his little L.A. walks and has taken some great new photos, (including interior Bradbury Building shots), that he is sharing with everyone.

Interested in chatting with other BR fans? then head over to the KDX BR chat - see details in the right column of the front page.

1st January 2003

Happy New Year everybody! Let us hope this is the year that the Blade Runner Special Edition DVD set finally makes it into our collections!

22nd December 2002

When Dave wrote in asking if I could put a couple of mp3's from the Blade Runner Game in the download section, I thought, why not? So here you go - two pieces of very ambient sound for your enjoyment. And may you all enjoy whatever you might be celebrating this month.

16th December 2002

I am sure that many of you here will have read the Official Collector's Edition of the Blade Runner Souvenir Magazine, either here on BRmovie, or by getting your own copy from eBay or suchlike. Ever wondered about the creation of the magazine? Well Ira Friedman, the publisher, recalls for us his memories of that time. More than that, he also provides a unique opportunity to get your hands on one of the last remaining mint copies he owns!

13th November 2002

A whole month has passed since the last significant update, although as usual there have been small additions and I've tweaked site styles a bit more. But I've finally dragged myself away from major redesign of two other websites long enough to complete the Blasters and Guns page. There is more to add at some future date, but I've made a good start.

13th October 2002

A little dreamlike moment added - a lovely example of BR-consciousness affecting a whole family! czf tells us about her Unicorn Tracks.

The Blade Runner Interactive Story continues. Why not join in? Don't be shy, just have a go and enjoy participating in the story!

11th October 2002

If you visit regularly, you may perhaps have noticed some ongoing streamlining of design of the site this year. Well, today I suddenly decided I was bored of the general look. The bright blues, etc. were done for a good reason a few years back, but I figured it was time to make the whole presentation more subtle. Not much of a change, but I've gone a shade down on box colours and added a few simple design touches. I've also changed the background, which I hope now evokes a sense of the atmosphere when Rachael is being V-K'd - the transient swirls of smoke representing the ephemeral and equivocal nature of memories.

3rd October 2002

Hopefully you've already seen the BR:SE news. All we need to know now is the release date!!!.

The big update I've been promising for a while is finally up. The complete Official Collector's Edition of the Blade Runner Souvenir Magazine is now presented on the Web. Not just a few pictures, or some excerpts, but the entire thing. I hope you enjoy it.

23rd September 2002

I've decided to slightly expand the parameters of which news stories I post above. So there will be a few more that are not directly related to Blade Runner, but which I think might be of interest to BR fans. So chances are there will be updates at least a couple of times a week.

17th September 2002

The new addition today is the music from Taffey's Bar carefully extracted onto an mp3 for you by POD. BRIS continues. The FAQ update I promised is now on-line - Version 4.1 has mostly minor updates and additions throughout. However, one section that has been expanded considerably is the music inspired by Blade Runner. Many of the FAQ updates sent in by you are for this section (please keep them coming). Apart from updating and adding many new entries, we've also added website links for most of the bands.

Regulars may notice that I've cleaned up the presentation across the site. Although the original style was created to evoke some of the sense of the style in the movie, I just felt it was time to make it a little sleeker (and thus breaking fewer of my own design rules!) Given also that almost all visitors are using later version browsers, I am finally incorporating some of the later version HTML. I'm pleased to announce that webspace has been doubled and upgraded, to cope with the increasing demands on and expectations of the site. Don't worry though, this doesn't mean I'll be messing with the clean design by adding lots of useless Flash elements or gimmicks. If you do have any difficulty with any element, please let me know, (include your machine/browser details).

The completely new section I've been working on is still work in progress... And I have part of the hot news I promised, but would like to give the full story, so I'll give it a few more days to see if I can get the rest of it.

2nd September 2002

Few updates as the ones currently in the pipeline are quite large and are taking some time. However we do have another fan-edit of BR movie clips to music. Download it now!

After a slow period in August, the Blade Runner Interactive Story is hotting up again! A minor update to the FAQ will be released this month and I also have some hot news that I should be able to add here within the next week. The big update I've been working on is progressing slowly and hopefully will be on-line soon. Finally, if anyone is going to see Rutger in Milton Keynes, why not drop me an e-mail and maybe I'll see you there.

13th August 2002

Okay, I admit I've been so busy that updating the site has gone a little awry over the past month - now being rectified. That is not to say there haven't been any updates - I just haven't told you about them! Okay, now I'm sure you must have seen the stupendous Paul M. Sammon interview conducted by yours truly. And you know that the Blade Runner Interactive Story continues to be updated. Did you also notice Patrick's review of the Blade Runner event in New York attended by Rutger Hauer and Joe Turkel? And have you seen my review of BR2: The Replicants Within - a short film by Harris Pozderac? What about the several updates to the games section? And please check out the updated and renewed DVD Covers created by POD. Oh, and Patrick created an excellent symbiosis of Blade Runner film clips with Pink Floyd's "Welcome to the Machine" that you simply must download. While there, have a listen to Ahmed's BR inspired "Melody at Rain"

4th July 2002

The Collectibles section slowly expands. Today I've added a brand new page. Do you fancy a drink? Want to drink it out of one of Deckard's glasses? (Well, perhaps not the one with blood in it...) Then check out the Glasses and Drinks page which has lots of juicy alcoholic information!

Also updated the Blade Runner game section, adding a technical support page and a few more game tips.

29th June 2002

Numerous small changes scattered across the site this month. We also have some new additions to the Analysis section: A couple of essays by Patrick Meaney have been added and the Roy Batty analysis by RoyBoy has undergone a revision. And of course, the Blade Runner Interactive Story continues to be expanded.

8th June 2002

The Blade Runner Interactive Story has new pages added every week, so if you haven't read it yet, start now! Then why not join in by writing a page yourself?

If you're in the mood for a really good read, we have a brand new BR fanfic short story added to our Fan-tastic section. Lower than the Angels deals with some of the fundamental Blade Runner themes. Enjoy.

18th May 2002

The first Blade Runner Interactive Story has now begun! What delights will be revealed? What dark secrets will be uncovered? If you don't play...

13th May 2002

Little bits and pieces being added all the time, (note the new "Quick Jumps" section above for hot links). Today there are some new old downloads. If you want one of those old screen savers or a BR theme, these are now available for download here. Keep checking back for more interesting stuff.

30th April 2002

The Related section was getting too unwieldy, so I've completely redone it - spliting it in twain - the remaining Related section is for the film versions, books, music, etc. that are currently available - the Collectibles section looks at all the collectable bits and pieces associated with Blade Runner and has been greatly enhanced (more still to come).

9th April 2002

There haven't been any big updates for a while, but there are some changes and additions in the pipeline. In preparation for some of these, I've made a few adjustments to the menu. Much more interesting things will arrive later this month.

19th March 2002

We can now announce that the Noodle Bar scene is completely translated! With confirmation of the existing Japanese lines and translation of the last line, we now have the whole thing!

6th March 2002

Reviewed the Analysis section - now organised to make it easier to use. New links continue to be added. On this occasion, I'd like to particularly direct you to the Poetry and Song section.

28th February 2002

Regular visitors cannot fail to notice our beautiful new front page banner! This is the work of Niclas Hermansson, (which will be no surprise to those of you who have looked at his pictures of all the BR characters in the Encyclopedia). So, thanks to Niclas for giving the site a much needed immediate visual impact.

We have had a couple more small confirmations of dialogue in the Noodle Bar scene for those who are interested in the minutiae.

Oh, and of course you have seen that we now have the Blade Runner comic on-line haven't you?

22nd February 2002

A small, but significant update - one more line in the Noodle Bar scene is now properly translated thanks to our Hungarian friend eMU. We provide the most accurate transcription and translation of this scene available anywhere, so it is always great to improve it even more!

14th February 2002

New Fan Fiction! I always love adding new stories to the site as they are so inventive and add new perspectives to the Blade Runner universe. Maker of Makers takes us into space - and beyond?

There have been numerous small changes/additions over the last few weeks, but my suffering with flu has kept these low key. Many cast/crew profiles are now up, but I haven't done them all yet and they are very basic - ripe for expansion - volunteers to do this are welcome!

Another little thing I added is a contact box in the left column, so it appears on every page. Although I previously provided a contact point in a number of specific places, it seems that this little change is already having positive results. I'm always happy to hear from anyone visiting the site, so if you have any comments of any kind, please do e-mail me.

27th January 2002

We have loads of updates in the last week! Most notable is the update to Version 4.0 of the Blade Runner FAQ. Lukas has done an excellent job in this latest FAQ update, with several sections expanded. The structure has been revamped and I have replicated that structure across to the website.

The Locations section has been greatly updated. What you should look at straight away is the excellent set of photos of the Ennis-Brown House taken by Gnomus. In addition to this, I've now finished creating the remaining locations pages.

Many other changes
- the main menu has been revamped;
- News, Views, Articles, etc. now have some new front pages to help cope with all the extra stuff;
- profiles pages have now been added for all main cast and crew.

17th January 2002

Some additions over the last week to various bits of the site. Notably, a new page devoted to news on the Blade Runner Special 20th Anniversary Edition DVD. This will be the one source you can trust to tell you the truth as far as it is known.

7th January 2002

Large update to the Encyclopedia. Niclas has expanded existing entries, added new entries and created many illustrative pictures specifically for the Encyclopedia.

1st January 2002

Happy New Year everyone.

4th December 2001

Signed message to alt-fan.blade-runner from Ray Kurzweil when czf met him at the WPI Imagining the Future conference. Page includes scans plus conference details and links.

26th November 2001

New fan fiction added. "Shades of Gray" by Brian Kay. A story to make you ask those questions again that are such strong elements of the film. Read it here.

19th November 2001

Well! As if having the new Encyclopedia added this week wasn't excitement enough, we have another large addition! Those of you interested in the Blade Runner Game will probably have checked out the page Marc did for BRmovie a while ago. You probably also looked at his own site - the Blade Runner Zone. However, if you looked recently, you would have found it strangely absent. Well, I'm pleased to say that the BRzone's uniqueness has now been added to our collective and now forms the bulk of the BRmovie Blade Runner Game section.

Christmas has obviously come early, because I have one more present for you - desktop wallpaper created from the wonderful Chris Moore DADoES Cover Art with which some of us are familiar. For full scan and wallpaper versions, check out the Pics Download section.

15th November 2001

Wow! Check it out! The Encyclopedia Blade Runner is here! Yes folks, BRmovie is already home to the Ultimate Blade Runner FAQ and now we have a terrific supplement to the FAQ - the EBR! This is the loving creation of Niclas Hermansson to entertain and inform BR fans everywhere. Have you ever wanted to just quickly look up some Blade Runner reference? Well now you can, in the EBR. Of course the FAQ is still there with all the background detail and answers to those frequently asked questions and we continue to build up the other resources on the site.

And can there be more? Well, not nearly as exciting as the EBR, but hopefully a useful addition, I've finally added a search facility to BRmovie.com - still on test, so please let me have your feedback.

12th November 2001

Added new Analysis section. Blade Runner isn't just a wonderful film to watch. It provides a great subject for analysis of questions of humanity and reality. It is also excellent for examination of film and design technique. Whether this analysis is simply for pleasure or as part of the increasing number of academic courses that study BR, it seemed we needed a central resource to link to analysis texts around the Web. And even to offer a home where they can be preserved. To give this a thumping good start, I have put up a wonderful essay by PKD himself on this site.

7th November 2001

Added a page to the Locations section to show where the Star Wars Millennium Falcon Building appears in Blade Runner.

29th October 2001

Due to other Blade Runner WebRings suffering from either Yahoo meddling or lack of support, we have been prompted to create the definitive Blade Runner Movie WebRing. If you have a website, or even a set of pages, that are devoted to Blade Runner, then why not join the Ring now?

13th October 2001

We now have confirmation of the "Hungarian Line" in the Noodle Bar scene. If you've ever wondered what people are saying in Japanese and Cityspeak, our FAQ has the best translation anywhere.

Finally changed the menu to a simple table. With the recent addition of extra sections and the new, clean look of the front page, it was time to replace them.

28th September 2001

Got the Locations section up and running - enhanced with current LA photos by Gnomus.

11th September 2001

Took the next logical step in changes to this front page to apply a clearer, more functional design.

5th September 2001

Where is the big eye background? Well it was one of the original distinctive features of the site, but I finally (reluctantly) decided it just detracts too much from the words. Still remains on sub-folder index pages and of course in the logo and banner ad.

Some more downloads added, including the Blade Runner Movie Font.

1st September 2001

More stuff added. Scripts section updated, with downloads. Other downloads also added. A few quality publicity photo scans added.

28th August 2001

So! The upgrade has been implemented - lets call it Version 3.6 of the website, to correspond with Version 3.6 of the FAQ. This includes substantial extra information and has been restructured for easier reading. Combined with this huge FAQ update is an update to the visual presentation on the site. If you are a regular, you will notice the menu changes and additions. Quotes has been put in its own section and there are new sections for scripts and downloads, (still being implemented).

25th July 2001

Royboy's essay analysing Roy Batty's character was good before, but has now been much enhanced. Whether you are interested in Roy's journey or in the questions for Humanity that we ourselves face, this is a must-read! Find it on the Fan-tastic page or from Roy Batty's profile page.

Also, mucho minor changes made across the site.

5th July 2001

Added profile for Rutger Hauer. This is the first of the cast and crew profiles that I will gradually be adding to this site. (Very gradually!) Profiles of cast, crew and characters now hyperlinked wherever logical, including from the credits list.

29th June 2001

"Destined to Fail", the great new story by The Log has been added to the Fan fiction page. If you haven't already seen it then read it now! And if you have seen it, then why not read it again!

Site News split off into its own section away from other news as I expect most people probably won't be interested in it.

RoyBoy has created a page for the Roll Call photos. If you read the newsgroup, you know what I mean. If you forget the link, don't worry - you can always follow the link from here.

16th May 2001

Finally changed the front page. Many liked the big eye, but it has had its day - now put to background and into the site's icon (top left). Instead, we have the latest news, etc. right up front.
The News/Views section has been split into two - all News stories and old site news in the "News" section. All Top 100s and other peoples' reviews in the "Views" section.
Extended Fan Fiction to now include images, such as POD's DVD cover. Thought I'd rename the section "Fan-tastic".

3rd May 2001

Added the "BR Top 100s" and "BR Reviews" boxes. Many more links also added to the news articles. Plus a few more links in the Links section and also in the Games section.
Added some good review quotes to the front page.
POD's excellent DVD cover is now available here.

24th April 2001

Added the "BR in the News" box. Some article links added - more still to come.
Also, a few other links changes plus Webrings.

9th April 2001

More Code of Ethics added! Parts 10 and 11 now up. If you've been following the story, then go straight to Part 10. If not, then please visit the Fan Fiction section.
Added a box for news on the Blade Runner Special Edition DVD. Only the news confirmed by Zinema will be included, because anything else cannot be trusted.
For a little amusement, please have a look at Chris Livingston's offbeat view of the temporary employee, Leon, (and other unfortunate temps in your favourite movies.) The Hall of Henchmen.

14th March 2001

Release 3 of the BRmovie.com website! Thanks to all contributors.
There have been a number of changes to the site during this upgrade. From now on, all new additions and changes can (and will) be implemented quickly.
Apart from the obvious changes to the visual interface, (well, obvious if you've been here before), and the less obvious changes to background structure of the pages, there are some new sections added.
