This document was originally part of the general Blade Runner FAQ edited by Lukas Mariman and Netrunner. It has been separated into its own FAQ as of May 2003 because people continue to make music inspired in some way by Blade Runner and thus the already extensive "BR Related Music" list is forever expanding.

Blade Runner has been an inspiration to musicians since it was released. This is for two reasons. Firstly, the most excellent Vangelis soundtrack and secondly the stunning film itself - providing food for thought to many. And of all the samples, probably the most sampled set of words in any film is Roy Batty's famous final speech, "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost ... in time, like tears ... in rain. Time ... to die."

A good listing of samples used can be found here. At the last check, they totalled 77 groups, 102 songs, 198 samples

Maintaining a list of BR inspired music deserves its own FAQ. We know we still have a long way to go in listing them (and of course there are always new songs being written). If you don't see a reference to a BR-inspired song that you know, then please write in and we'll add it.

Many thanks to Lukas (Sentinel to those new to AFBR), Netrunner, Evil Sponge, CZF, and anyone else who e-mailed me about BR inspired tracks.

Version 1.1 - 30-Oct-2003 - Added a number of songs, and barriers between songs.
